Media Tours
This time, we took Hanxin's students on a true "journey into the media," spanning three major Malaysian media platforms: MalaysiaKini, Astro, and CityPlus. Through authentic on-site observation and direct dialogue, we helped them rediscover—what it means to be a media professional. At MalaysiaKini, led by Lee Way Loon, an editor at MalaysiaKini, the students experienced their first close-up look at the backstage of online media, witnessing the decision-making process behind the news:
• How news is judged, screened, and decided to go online
• How media outlets choose between "chasing traffic" and "upholding values"
• How journalists maintain professionalism in the algorithm era
• How audience positioning determines program planning direction
From background to philosophy, from the editorial office to the production area—what the students saw was not a cold system, but the perseverance and mission of media professionals amidst changing times.
Astro Chinese Radio
Led by Wincent Goh, Senior Manager of Chinese Brands & Director of MY FM,
students went behind the scenes of Goxuan, Melody, and MY FM, gaining a true understanding of the radio industry:
• How different radio stations target their audiences and plan their content
• How program planning, sound design, and marketing are integrated
• How radio maintains its appeal in the digital age
• The emotional connection between hosts and listeners is built through "sound"
The moment they stepped into the recording studio,
the students transformed from "listeners" to "witnesses of program creation."
CityPlus Radio
At CityPlus, students experienced firsthand—sitting at the anchor desk, operating equipment, simulating recording, and feeling the real radio process.
They gained a more authentic understanding:
Behind every program is the collaborative effort of a team, technology, and content.
This was their closest rehearsal to their future careers.
Stepping out into the world reveals its vastness. Three days of visits, three platforms, three media ecosystems—students witnessed the dedication of journalism, the warmth of radio, and the professionalism of media professionals. This journey was not just a visit, but also a "significant stepping stone to confirm our future direction."
Stay tuned to Oneworld Hanxin College,
and we'll take you into more real media scenes and industry experiences.
