Students from Oneworld Hanxin College Attended the 2nd China-Malaysia Film Culture Festival
Forty students from Oneworld Hanxin College were invited to attend the opening film screening of the 2nd China-Malaysia Film Culture Festival, held at 1:00 p.m. at Mid Valley GSC Hall 10. The featured film was a restored version of the classic comedy It’s a Mad, Mad World. Thanks to advanced digital restoration technology, this beloved Hong Kong production returned to the big screen with renewed brilliance, impressing the students with its visual quality. The audience was fully engaged throughout the screening, and during the post-screening Q&A session, four students from the college took the lead in posing all the questions—demonstrating both their keen interest and solid media training.Following the screening, the students participated in a thematic seminar titled From Black-and-White Film to High-Definition Digital: Asian Visual Culture, also held at GSC Hall 10 from 3:45 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The seminar was presented by acclaimed Chinese director Li Tao and Malaysian director Aron Koh, offering an in-depth discussion on the evolution of visual technology and aesthetics in Asian cinema. Topics included film preservation, restoration techniques, and the development of digital visual styles. This session marked the first time experts from the China Film Archive had visited Malaysia to share their insights and practical experiences. The seminar was open to university students free of charge to encourage greater youth participation in visual culture exchange and to broaden their global outlook.
This event not only deepened the students’ understanding of the history and technological evolution of film but also provided a valuable platform for direct engagement with film research experts from China—further enhancing the students’ professional knowledge and international perspective.
